INTRODUCING THE GOBI AMBULANCE!
Born in 1978 to Worthing St John Ambulance station, she spent her early years attending local events providing much needed medical support. Some time in the 1990's she was transferred to Burgess Hill, where she remained for the rest of her working days. We found this photo in the service history, taken the day she was registered. Not sure who the chap in the foreground is, but he looks very please with his new Ambulance - just like us!

As the new millenium dawned she was sold off being retired for a newer (but not as good looking) model. A chap in Brighton brought her and she sat idle for a number of years before being sold on. The second new owner planned to turn her into a camper van, he managed to take her to bits and then got brought so she sat idle for a year.
Needing the space he posted her on eBay for sale. At the same time Russ, Stu and Mat were sat down trying to decide what vehicle to take on the Mongol Rally. Various vehicles were banded around the table, some serious others not. We went from a stretch Mini to a Fire Engine to a JCB before hitting eBay. We found the Ambulance with 16 hours left to go with budding at £600. We just had to bid, it was fate!
Sixteen hours later Mat found himself in Reading at work, on the phone to Stu counting down the seconds as the auction ended. We were winning at £920, someone bid then we bid again 3...2...1... The auction ended, we won paying £925; and this is where the Gobi Ambulance story begins!
